Rick McKinnon went over to his girlfriend's house early Saturday evening around 6:20p.m. Jan.9.2016, when he heard loud banging and an animal crying for help from her neighbours backyard. I tried to save the Rabbit and did my best to get it untangled and out of the snare .... it died im my arms right before I got the snare off its neck

Can you describe the snare, would it only harm pets or children too?

yes .... many pets and possibly young children ...
I confiscated the rabbit and the snare

Once you realized the animal had been trapped to death did you fear for your own safety?
Possibly other trap Gear in the yard?

Not at all ... I was more concerned about the neighbors pets and other animals

After that you went to confront the owner of the house?

my exact words to him when he answered the door " So that snare you set at the side of your house?" He said "Yeah what about it"
at that point I took his picture and told him I had already called police and fish&wildlife .... he slammed the door in my face and then ran through his house turning all the lights off

they have his address, photo's and the plate number off his truck
they said it was animal cruelty and he would be charged .... I have to go make a statement and they will be coming to get the rabbit and snare from me
So with the snow in the air and on the ground you may want your kids to go outside and play with your pets because they are watching to much T.V. and playing way to many video games. Go over some rules when playing outside to stay safe. Tell your kids to let you know if they have to go over to the neighbors yard for any reason. You might be happy you did!
