Vendasta’s Saskatoon Story Is About Building Infrastructure for Local Business

A Saskatchewan Decision That Became a Technology Address
Vendasta began in 2008. In a 2023 anniversary release, it said founder and CEO Brendan King was one of its original seven founders and recalled early days around King’s living room. The release says the founders chose to incorporate in Saskatchewan after debating where to locate the business.
Vendasta formally opened its downtown Saskatoon headquarters in June 2022. Its announcement identifies Vendasta Square at 22nd Street and 4th Avenue North and says it occupies floors 12 through 17. Its current contact page lists 410–22nd Street East, 15th Floor, Saskatoon, SK S7K 5T6.
A digital product does not make a company invisible: a headquarters can anchor collaboration and public presence while customers and partners are elsewhere.
The Product Is a Platform; the Route to Market Is a Partner
Vendasta says it works with channel partners including agencies, consultants, media companies, managed service providers and franchisors. Those organizations use the platform to serve their own small and medium-sized business clients.
Its public materials describe capabilities across marketing, sales and operations, combining business data, automation and AI employees. The language has evolved, but the through-line is tools for intermediaries that support local businesses. Claims about reach, performance or outcomes should be attributed to Vendasta and checked against the relevant partner, product and period rather than treated as universal results.
A Growing Company Also Has a Public Record
CBC reported in July 2019 that Vendasta announced a $40-million growth-capital deal and planned to grow from 285 people to 650 over three years. Those were time-specific figures and plans, not a present-day headcount.
Vendasta’s January 2023 anniversary release said it had more than 700 employees and offices in Canada, the United States and India at that time. Its current company page identifies Saskatoon, Boca Raton and Chennai locations. Historical workforce figures and location lists should not be used to infer a current workforce without a dated source.
The durable story is an effort to build a Saskatoon-based company whose technology is distributed through businesses serving local economies.
The AI Pivot Brings Opportunity—and Accountability
Vendasta’s website describes an “AI workforce” and AI tools for tasks across marketing, sales and customer engagement. Its leadership page identifies Brendan King as CEO, Dale Hopkins as CTO and Reilley Dutchak as CFO.
CBC News reported on March 6, 2026 that Vendasta laid off about 20 employees in Saskatchewan and about 50 worldwide—roughly 70 roles—during a shift toward AI. The report said the company had employed about 650 people before those cuts and quoted King framing the change as a response to the industry’s AI shift.
That does not erase Vendasta’s Saskatoon role or establish customer value automatically. Partners and local businesses should ask which workflow is changing, what data is involved, what human oversight remains and how results will be measured.
